ProbioMed Infant is a Designs for Health formula that contains seven well-researched Bifidobacterium probiotics and Lactobacillus bacteria strains. The synergistic blend of these strains helps support the infant’s developing immune system, enhance their digestive system, and promote balanced gut microbiota composition. Combined with a digestive enzyme blend formulated from human breast milk components, the NutraFlora prebiotic fiber, and HMOs, ProbioMed Infant is an all-around product that nurtures children’s developing bodies (mainly their digestive and immune system).
ProbioMed Infant is ideal for infants fed with formula milk and is primarily intended to promote microbial balance in their gastrointestinal system.
ProbioMed Infant is an unflavored, self-stable, custom blend of probiotic bacteria that supplies an incredibly large amount of them per serving (5 billion CFUs in each stick pack). This is considerably more than what other similar probiotic products in the current market offer. The purpose behind this significant overage of probiotic strains is to make sure the stated Colony Forming Unit (CFU) count is delivered. The health benefits of probiotics have been widely studied and evidenced. Among others, probiotics can help prevent diarrhea in infants and children taking antibiotics. They also help reduce crying in babies with colic (this usually applies to breastfed infants). At the same time, a blend of three particular strains of bacteria, including Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, has been shown to help prevent the likelihood of skin conditions, such as eczema, in babies with a family history of allergic disease.
All that aside, though, it has been scientifically proven that probiotics can help keep a healthy gut microbiome, which is critical to our overall health, especially in the younger years of one’s life.
Lactobacillus Rhamnosus GG
The formula features Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, perhaps the most widely studied probiotic strain tied to various health effects. It has been evidenced that it can help treat and prevent diarrhea and gastrointestinal infections, as well as trigger immune responses that promote vaccination. It is even found that the particular probiotic strain can prevent certain allergic symptoms, along with Irritable Bowel Syndrome-related health conditions.
HMOs
The second component of the formula is Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs), a vital constituent of human milk that seems to protect babies against microbial infections by enriching the protective gut microbiota and other important mechanisms. It should be noted that infant formulas do not contain HMOs, which means that these infants don’t receive the health benefits HMOs deliver.
Bifidobacterium Infantis
Thirdly, ProbioMed Infant has Bifidobacterium infantis, which can help reduce bloating, gas, and abdominal pain, as well as lower intestinal inflammation in formula-fed babies up to 55 times compared to breastfed-only infants. Bifidobacterium infantis also further supports gut health by utilizing HMOs as a primary fuel source. Simultaneously, it supplies the body with just the right amount of enzymes to assist in the digestion of proteins and carbohydrates.
NutraFlora
Finally, ProbioMed Infant is complemented with a short-chain prebiotic fiber and fructo-oligosaccharide called NutraFlora. This prebiotic fiber improves digestion, enhances the absorption of nutrients, and nourishes the gut microbiome. This leads to a stronger immune system, reduced inflammation, stronger bones, lower risk of allergies, and many others. It is also found that Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus are the two probiotic strains that benefit the most from this particular prebiotic fiber.
It is recommended to mix one gram (one powered-filled stick pack) into juice, water, milk, infant formula, or breast milk every day unless your doctor instructs otherwise.
No side effects have been reported from using ProbioMed Infant.
The formula has been designed to provide infants and children with additional probiotic support, as well as improve gut health, support immune function, and promote gastrointestinal microbial diversity in children that were not breastfed as babies. Although it is created for formula-fed infants up to 3 years old, you can consult your healthcare professional if you want to give the ProbioMed Infant formula to an older child or shift to ProbioMed Kids.
The product is soy-free, GMO-free, and gluten-free.
Note: You get to read precisely the amount of each strain, so you know exactly what you are giving to your baby.
Q: Some people say that probiotics can harm infants. Is that true?
A: Please note that not all probiotics are the same. There is scientific evidence that probiotics specifically designed for infants and children can enhance immune and digestive function and improve GI health. However, parents of children with compromised immune systems or serious illnesses should speak with their pediatrician before giving their child probiotics to avoid potential fungal or bacterial infections (though quite rare).
Q: Why do formula-fed babies need probiotics?
A: To promote a balance of bacteria in their gut and prevent the growth of harmful organisms that could cause inflammation and infections.
Q: Can ProbioMed Infant help with infant reflux?
A: Probiotics designed for infants are evidenced to help relieve symptoms of reflux and colic due to their anti-inflammatory effect on the gut.
