Product Description

What is Lauricidin and what is it used for?

Lauricidin is pure sn-1 monolaurin (glycerol monolaurate), a natural supplement derived from lauric acid which is a fatty acid found in coconut oil. Lauricidin has been shown to help support the immune system, balance healthy bacteria in the gut, and promote healthy yeast balance. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Lauricidin is all-natural, generally well-tolerated, and considered safe for most people. However, as with any supplement, it is always best to consult with your health care provider before starting any new supplement, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a medical condition or are taking any medications.

More about Lauric Acid

Lauric acid is a 12-carbon saturated fatty acid that is found naturally in coconut oil, palm kernel oil, and butterfat. Lauric acid helps to support a healthy immune system and skin care. It also has antimicrobial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.

Lauric acid is converted in the body to monolaurin, a compound that has been shown to kill bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Monolaurin is also found naturally in human breast milk and is thought to help protect infants from infection.

Lauricidin is made by combining lauric acid from coconut oil with plant-based glycerol (non-soy) creating a pure ester known as monolaurin, a monoglyceride. One teaspoon (one scoop) contains approximately 3g (3000mg) of monolaurin.

What Makes Lauricidin Unique?

  • Extracted from coconut oil, which is rich in Lauricidin – a natural ingredient first discovered in mother’s milk.

  • Monolaurin purity in the Lauricidin formula exceeds 95%, which is significantly higher compared to the 40-50% of other brands’ formulas.

  • Can be taken along with other medications and supplements, most of the time. However, do consult your healthcare practitioner first whenever you are about to take any supplement with your medication.

  • It contains no gluten, eggs, milk, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat or soybeans.

The Health Benefits of Monolaurin

Antibacterial Attributes

Evidence suggests that monolaurin shows antibacterial effects against certain Staph (Staphylococcus aureus) infections and a wide range of other bacteria. Research indicates that the component can also hinder the activity of Bacillus subtilis and E.coli bacteria. When compared with other common antibiotics, including vancomycin and penicillin, monolaurin was also found to be particularly effective in fighting bacteria responsible for skin infections too.

Antiviral Attributes

Monolaurin is reported to impede a broad spectrum of viruses, including herpes simplex-1 and simplex-2, alongside:

  • Measles
  • Cytomegalovirus
  • Pneumovirus
  • Influenza
  • Epstein-Barr virus
  • Visna virus

Also, according to research, when monolaurin is used in the form of a vaginal gel, it may reduce the risk of the primate form of HIV, called SIV.

Antifungal Attributes

Research has shown that monolaurin can treat infections with a common fungus that affects the mouth, throat, skin, and genitals called C.albicans (Candida albicans). In addition, it can control the body’s inflammatory response to C.albicans while there is also evidence that it may either destroy or inactivate other microscopic organisms and fungi, including the Giardia lamblia parasite and some species of ringworm.

Monolaurin can:

  • Prevent & treat infections (viral, fungal, and bacterial).

  • Treat some infections that are resistant to antibiotics (i.e., Staph).

  • Strengthen and provide active immune support.

  • Treat some skin conditions.

How quickly does Lauricidin work?

Lauricidin is not a drug, it is a natural nutritional supplement intended to be taken daily like a vitamin. It is best to increase your Lauricidin dosage gradually over time as tolerated. This allows your body to slowly adapt and utilize the monolaurin more effectively.

Some people may experience what is known as a Herxheimer reaction when first starting Lauricidin or increasing their dosage too quickly. A Herxheimer or Herx Reactions is a short-term (from days to a few weeks) detoxification reaction in the body. It's normal to have flu-like symptoms including headache, joint and muscular discomfort, bodily aches, sore throat, general malaise, sweating, chills, nausea, and other symptoms as the body cleanses. If this occurs, simply back off on your intake for a few days until the symptoms subside then continue with a lower dose until you build up a tolerance.

Lauricidin is intended to be taken for long-term support of general health and wellness and is not intended to treat, diagnose, cure or prevent any disease. It may take a few weeks or months to work up to the maintenance intake of one teaspoon (1 full blue scoop) three times per day. When taken on an ongoing basis, Lauricidin monolaurin capsules may help support general immune health, support a natural balance of healthy bacteria, and promote a healthy balance of yeast.

Is Lauricidin safe?

Lauricidin is safe for the whole family. Lauricidin may be taken by children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers to help promote optimal health. Lauricidin is on the GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) list by the FDA.

Lauricidin is allergen-free. Lauricidin does not contain soy, gluten, nuts, dairy, eggs, fish, or shellfish. Lauricidin is also GMO-free and the glycerin in Lauricidin is plant-based (non-soy).

Lauricidin can be safely taken with other supplements and may be taken while taking antibiotics. Monolaurin has been shown to increase the effectiveness of certain antibiotics. If you have any concerns, please consult with your health provider.

All batches of Lauricidin are tested for heavy metals: arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury by an independent FDA-registered laboratory using ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry) testing methods. All Lauricidin batches are well within the safety limits as set by the FDA.

Suggested Dosage

For Adults (12 years and older)

The suggested initial dose of Lauricidin is 0.75 gram (1/4 blue scoop) or less twice or three times daily for a week before gradually increasing the amount. After that, the dosage can be increased to 1.5 grams (1/2 blue scoop) one, two, or three times daily as needed.

The maintenance level is 3.0 grams (one blue scoop) two or three times a day for optimal health effects. If the condition persists, 2-4 scoops up to 3 times a day may be administered.

The length of time required to take Lauricidin is unique to each person. For better health, this supplement should be taken regularly, just like vitamins.

For Children (3-11 years old)

The recommended dosage for children is 1/4 teaspoon (600mg-1200mg) per day, depending on the child’s age and weight. It is recommended to check with your doctor for children under the age of 12.

Please note that if chewed and eaten alone, the mini pellets will have a natural bitter and soapy taste. So it is recommended to mix them into applesauce, pudding, peanut butter, or a similar soft food your child enjoys.

Children 3-5 may safely take up to 750 mg (1/4 scoop), 3 times a day.

Children 6-8 may safely take up to 1500 mg (1/2 scoop), 3 times a day.
