Phyto-ADR is a vegetarian formula designed to provide wide-range herbal and nutritional support for the adrenal glands and normal adrenal function. Normal adrenal gland function is crucial to a number of physiological functions including glucose metabolism, stress adaptation, energy generation, stamina, and the immune response. Phyto-ADR provides panax ginseng and Eleutherococcus senticosus, or eleuthero, which are highly recognized adaptogens, supporting normal physiological balance and stress. In part, they support the normal production of adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) and ultimately corticosterone activity. Corticosterone supports the conversion of amino acids into carbohydrates and glycogen by the liver and stimulates glycogen formation in the tissues, supporting normal energy reserves. This formula also provides rhodiola rosea, which contains rosavins and salidrosides, and also supports normal hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal activity. Rhodiola can have a calming effect on the central nervous system and supports normal thyroid, thymus, and adrenal gland function.
