About Acanthopanax 10
Acanthopanax 10 is an herbal formula that is also referred to as Wu Jia Jian Pian and is used to help support normal muscle and joint function. Acanthopanax 10 is designed to alleviate the pain that is caused by inflammation or repeated injury of the tendons. Part of its role is to help strengthen the tendons and promote bone health, which is why it can also be effective when treating arthralgia. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Acanthopanax 10 is also used to (1) nourish the kidney and liver, (2) combat kidney kidney-essence deficiency, and (3) fight liver blood deficiency.
How Acanthopanax 10 Works
The primary target of Acanthopanax 10 is to help those with tendon weakness and repeated injuries of the joints that could come from laxness of the tendons. From the Chinese viewpoint, tendon weakness is considered a congenital disorder. The root cause of this condition is a deficiency of kidney jing (Essence) and liver blood insufficiency. This is because the liver and tendons are closely related to one another, with the latter being an extension of the first. According to TCM, kidney deficiency leads to congenital disorders, while the kidney jing is a liver blood contributor. Typical manifestations of kidney yang deficiency are lower back pain, cold feet, lower limb arthralgia, gout, sciatica, and Achilles tendonitis.
When the tendons are lax, the joints may get hurt. If this happens continuously over a long period of time, the joints may suffer minor, yet painful, injuries, which can lead to postural issues as well. Acanthopanax 10 is one of the few Chinese herbs that has been found to help strengthen not only the muscles and tendons but also the bones. Several other herbs with similar attributes are also incorporated in the Acanthopanax 10 formula, such as Pine node, Chaenomeles, Achyranthes, Eucommia, and Dipsacus. These ingredients also comprised the Cibotium Formula, a derivative of which is Acanthopanax 10. All the compounds combined help individuals facing problems such as fatigue, numbness, painful joints, stiffness, and limited movement. A list of health qualities related to each ingredient in the Acanthopanax 10 formula is provided in the following section.
