This method of preparation strengthens the Spleen and harmonizes the Stomach, and is most appropriate when the transportive and transformative functions of the middle burner lose harmony, causing poor appetite, distention, fullness, and lethargy. It can also be used for the treatment of spontaneous sweating, and for calming the fetus.
