• Nourishes the Lung yin and clears Lung heat: for dry, nonproductive cough from heat injuring the Lung yin marked by a dry mouth and thirst.
• Nourishes the Stomach yin and generates fluids: for dry and parched mouth, thirst, and irritability. Especially useful when the problem is due to pathogenic disease, as in Benefit the Stomach Decoction (yi wei tang).
