Now commonly used for nightsweats and heat from deficiency, Oryzae glutinosae Radix (nuo dao gen xu) had few recorded traditional uses before its inclusion in Ye Gui's Renewed Materia Medica, which describes it as follows: "Sweet, acrid, and neutral without toxicity, it enters the three channels of the Liver, Lungs, and Kidney. Tonifies the qi, transforms phlegm, enriches the yin of the Stomach, expels wind-dampness.
