About ContraVirus

ContraVirus is a DesBio formula that has been designed to help the body maintain its healthy cellular defense when we are exposed to viral infections. At the same time, it improves the response of the immune system as a means to combat the disease effectively. The formula contains a wide range of health-promoting components, including herbs that have been widely used to support the immune system when it is under “attack” by a viral infection. ContraVirus also delivers nutrients that make the immune system act faster and more efficiently when the body is threatened by an infection caused by a virus.

ContraVirus Uses

The product is ideal for individuals experiencing symptoms of general viral infections, such as fever, headaches, congestion, and malaise. Moreover, ContraVirus is a superb option for supporting patients with chronic symptoms. These can range from muscle aches and joint pain to fatigue. What all these symptoms have in common is the fact that they are triggered by viral infections.

Viral Infections vs. Bacterial Infections: What is the difference?

As their name suggests, viral infections are caused by viruses, while bacterial infections are the outcome of bacteria invading the body. Bacteria are larger-in-size-pathogens than viruses that can also reproduce on their own. Viruses, on the other hand, are significantly smaller than bacteria and need to infect a host to reproduce. In doing so, they use the replication and DNA repair systems of the host to make copies of themselves. This process can change, damage or kill the cells, which will, consequently, make you sick. Depending on the types of cells a virus attacks, a different system gets infected. This could be from the blood to the respiratory system and liver.

Obviously, viruses cause a lot more damage to the body as they can be held responsible for a long list of infectious diseases, such as warts, flu, and common cold – even more severe illnesses, such as Ebola, smallpox, and AIDS/HIV. We can understand how more serious a viral infection is by the fact that bacterial infections can be effectively treated with antibiotic drugs, - viruses cannot be killed by them. Plus, some bacteria actually promote health (i.e., good gut bacteria). Unfortunately, in the past few years, inappropriate use of antibiotics has led to the creation of bacterial diseases that are particularly resistant to antibiotic treatment.

Sometimes, though, the symptoms of a bacterial and viral infection can be quite similar. For instance, fatigue, headache, cough, and runny nose can occur with a sinus infection (bacterial infection) and with the common cold (a viral infection). The length of the illness, the presence of other symptoms, such as body aches and fever, and certain lab tests usually help determine if you have a viral or bacterial infection (or some other disease or pathogen process).

Note: Many times, healthcare practitioners prescribe antibiotics in viral illnesses as a means to prevent secondary infections, which usually appear when one’s immune system is already compromised or weakened either due to a bacterial infection that infected them previously or an existing illness.

The Role of the Immune System in Fighting Viral Infections

When a virus attacks the body, we may not get sick. Sometimes, our immune system is able to fight off the virus. Here is how the immune response works: As soon as a virus is inside the body, the immune cells are unable to detect the virus. Hence, they have no idea that a cell is infected. To overcome this, the body cells come with a “virus detection” system that enables them to show other cells their condition by displaying pieces of a specific protein from inside the cell upon its surface. Cells infected by a virus are easy to identify by the presence of protein fragments – these are caused by the virus.

Also of note is that the human body has its own “patrol” that circulates looking for infections and tracking virally-infected cells, called T cells (a special cell type of the immune system). A group of T cells is also capable of killing infected cells using toxic mediators. If the T cells detect an anomaly, they release cytotoxic factors to destroy the infected cell and stop the virus from spreading. At the same time, the infected cells produce and release interferons to prevent the replication of the virus within them while warning nearby cells of a viral presence. This makes the surrounding cells produce substances that help them identify and then get rid of the viral infection. Another mechanism that can take place during a viral infection is the presence of antibodies, which stick to the invading pathogens as a means to eradicate the virus.
