About Gan Mao Ling
Gan Mao Ling is an herbal dietary supplement also referred to as “Miraculous Cold Pills” for its remarkable effectiveness to combat early common cold and flu symptoms and the related stress the body experiences during illness. Its ingredients have been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries to expel toxic heat, clear heat, and dispel winter. This formula is an excellent means to prevent seasonal influenza and cold due to its natural, cold-fighting and health-promoting components.
How Gan Mao Ling Works
The remedy utilizes mainly the leaves, flower, and bud parts of plants as they are lighter, which allows them to reach the nasal passages and head to treat the symptoms of cold or flu. Many components of Gan Mao Long have exceptional anti-microbial properties, which, combined with the actions of the other ingredients of the formula, help stop the cold from progressing further. If used at the onset of the cold or flu, it can reduce the duration and intensity of symptoms and relieve cough by cooling lung heat.
For stronger immune after the symptoms have resolved (or before, as a proactive means), it is recommended to use Gan Mao Ling along with Yin Qiao San formula, which contains herbs that boost immunity, to ensure that the body does not get infected again by common influenza or cold (or another common virus or bacterium) any time soon.
How Traditional Chinese Medicine Treats Colds and Flu
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, we get sick from flu and cold after external wind-borne and wind pathogens invade our system. Then, our body’s qi initiates a defensive action to combat “wind-heat” or “wind-cold” symptoms and signs.
Wind-heat represents symptoms related to heat, such as fever, sore throat, mild sweating, heat sensations, and possibly constipation, “pressure” headache, and a cough. Wind-cold, on the other hand, is an invasion that presents a range of symptoms that usually manifest when we are exposed to cold surroundings or cold weather at the time when the wei qi (our defense system) is unable to initiate an effective defense (produce enough antibodies) to prevent the illness from affecting us, and kick the invading antigens off our system. Wind-cold symptomatology includes pronounced chills, body aches, headache, and absence of sweating. In some cases, it may also involve a scratchy throat.
