Wen Dan Tang History
Wen Dan Tang translates as Warm the Gallbladder Decoction is an ancient formula that can be traced back to the seventh century. Sun Simiao, famously titled China’s King of Medicine, used this formula to treat insomnia and moodiness appearing after a serious illness. This formula received its title because Sun Simiao believed those symptoms were caused by cold in the Gallbladder, and so this formula warmed the gallbladder up. Although this formula was adapted throughout the centuries, and the version today is actually used for its cooling properties, the original name has been preserved.Wen Dan Tang History
