About Dang Gui
Dang Gui is a Sun Ten Single Herbs formula that has been specifically manufactured to help people with pain, irregular menstruation (also menstrual problems), and pain, fight their symptoms. Also known as Toki or Tang Keui, Dang Gui can effectively reduce (or even eliminate) pain, tonify and activate the blood, and lubricating the intestines, which also helps induce bowel movement.
How Dang Gui Works
Dang Gui is one of the most commonly used herbs in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is mainly known as a superior blood tonic. It also helps support the normal circulation of the blood in the pelvic basin and the abdomen, which makes it particularly popular among women who seek to maintain healthy menstrual balance. Finally, it has relaxing and calming properties, alongside analgesic action.
Dang Gui Combinations for Maximum Results
When used for blood deficiency syndromes, it is usually combined with other symptoms-suiting, blood-tonifying herbs, such as Bai Shao and Shu Di Huang, and Chuan Xiong. Other symptoms caused by blood deficiency are heart-related, such as amnesia, disturbed sleep, insomnia, and palpitation. In this case, Dang Gui could be combined with tranquilizing and heart-nourishing herbs, including Bai Zi Ren and Suan Zao Ren. Finally, when blood deficiency is also accompanied by qi deficiency, the formula can be used with qi tonics (i.e., Huang Qi).
For pain induced by congealing cold, blood stasis, or blood deficiency, Dang Gui acts as a pain alleviator that also dispels cold and activates (also tonifies) blood. Depending on where the pain is located, the formula can be combined with different other herbs. For instance, to fight abdominal pain with a cold pathogen, it can be used with Sheng Jiang or another cold-dispelling, interior-warming herb. For pain that has led to hematoma and swelling after a fall or other injury, Dang Gui and a herb that smooths the blood vessels and dispels cold (i.e., Gui Zhi) can be quite effective. Or you may use it with injury-curbing, pain-reducing herbs, such as Ru Xiang.
For dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, and irregular menstruation, Dang Gui activates the blood, tonifies it, and helps fight pain while also regulating menstruation. In cases of menstrual diseases due to either blood deficiency, liver depression, blood stasis, congealing cold, or qi stagnation, it is usually combined with blood-tonifying, cold-dispersing, qi-regulating, liver-soothing, meridians-warming, and menstruation-regulating herbs, like Bai Shao, Gui Zhi, Chai Hu, and Wu Zhu Yu.
For sores and ulcers, particularly those induced by blood deficiency, Dang Gui removes swelling, promotes blood circulation, alleviates pain, improves tissue regeneration, and tonifies the blood, despite its warm property. If the ulcers and sores don’t have pus bursts, Dang Gui can be used with herbs that expel pus and toxins, strengthen qi, and activate the blood, such as Zao Jiao Ci. In the opposite case (when the sores are uncured), it should be combined with blood and qi tonics (see Shu Di Huang). Now, if the ulcers are followed with pain, a heat sensation, swelling, and redness and are caused by excessive heat-toxin, Dang Gui is usually taken along with ulcer-eliminating, swelling-removing, or heat-toxin-cleaning herbs (i.e., Jin Yin Hua).
Dang Gui can be used for constipation that is generated due to blood deficiency-caused consumption of intestinal fluid to moisten intestinal dryness, nourish the intestines, smooth stool, and tonify the blood. The formula can be used with raw He Shou Wu and other herbs that combat the issues mentioned before.
Dang Gui can also relieve dyspnea and is also indicated for cough.
Dang Gui Ingredients
The formula contains only pure (100%) Dang Gui. However, all manufacturers of natural herbal products that come in the form of concentrated powder add an excipient in suitable amounts to help stabilize the herbal formulas. This is because the powders tend to absorb moisture from the air. In the Dang Gui formula, the excipient used is non-GMO starch.
Dang Gui Serving Size
The recommended dosage is 1-2 grams taken twice a day (and up to three times daily) unless your healthcare practitioner instructs otherwise.
