Recommendations: Prepared Stemona Root: Slices of the root are mixed with honey and left covered until the honey has been mostly absorbed, then it is fried or baked with moderate heat until slightly yellow. This increases its Lung-moistening action, and is especially indicated for chronic cough and dry cough. At present, for internal use, prepared stemona root is the norm.

Moistens the Lungs and stops cough: for both acute and chronic cough. Especially useful for cough from deficiency, including yin deficiency.

Expels parasites and kills lice: apply topically as either a tincture or a decoction for head or body lice or fleas. Also used as a wash for bacterial vaginosis and as a nighly retained enema for pinworm.
